Friends of the Cranford Library Book sale: On Wednesday the Cranford Public Library hosts its book sale beginning at 10 a.m. Choose from more than 10,000 children's and adult books, CDs, DVDs, and recorded books. Prices range from $.25 to $2.00, except for vintage and autographed volumes, which are specially marked. Proceeds benefit the library.
Help the Animals: Open to all ages; learn how to crochet blankets to be donated to the local Animal Shelter. Event begins at 2 p.m. in the Cranford Public Library.
Self Defense: Register now for the Women’s Self Defense workshop at the Taekwon-Do Center in Cranford. The workshop will be held on Aug. 17 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Ages 12 and up can register for just $60.
On the roads: New Jersey American Water has started work on Springfield Ave. from Penn Road to West End Place yesterday, according to Cranford PD. Northbound traffic on Springfield Avenue will be detoured at Orange Avenue to Kenilworth Boulevard, while southbound traffic will not be impacted. All roadwork will be in the northbound lane and is expected to be complete in four weeks.
