Gladys Ditzel Guertin Dies at 101

Guertin lived in Cranford for more than 80 years.

At the age of 101, Gladys Ditzel Guertin passed away on Tuesday at her son’s home in Virginia. Her passing comes 37 years to the day, following the death of her beloved husband, Louis, according to NJ.com.

Guertin was born in Linden, but lived in Cranford for more than 80 years. 

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, NJ.com reported. She loved flowers and spent many years as an avid gardner.

Guertin is survived by her children, daughter, Vilbina G. Tanzer and her husband, John, of Cranford, son, Robert and his wife Carol of Cranford and son, Ronald and his wife Laurie of Calloway, Va. Also, a grandson, David Tanzer of Chester, Mass., two great-granddaughters, Devon and Lola Duallo of Manahawkin and a great-great-granddaughter, Lola Barton.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at Rahway Cemetery.
