CRANFORD, NJ — The newest addition to Ani Ramen's wait staff in Cranford is Rosie — a robot who serves ramen to hungry customers.

Rosie has recently been hired to assist her human co-workers at the ramen restaurant when they are overwhelmed with orders, according to a post from NJ.com. Her primary function is to carry dishes, but customers can also use Rosie to place their orders.

Customers can place an order by scanning the menu's QR code with a mobile device. Then, after the meal is cooked in the kitchen, Rosie rolls up next to the customer's table to deliver the food.

Kathleen Reyes, the regional director and partner at Ani Ramen, told NJ.com that they came up with the name "Rosie," not just because of the convenient alliteration, but also as a reference to the television show "The Jetsons."

In the show, the Jetson family lives in a utopian future with their robotic maid, named Rosie.

Wait staff at Ani Ramen follow Rosie as she delivers the food to help place the dishes on the various tables.

According to NJ.com, Rosie also has sensors to avoid obstacles in her way. She is also programmed to know where to recharge. Take a look at this video from NJ.com on Facebook below:

Rosie is not taking anyone's job, but is merely assisting the wait staff at the restaurant.

If you want to meet Rosie, visit Ani Ramen House at 109 Walnut Avenue in Cranford.
