MLK Jr. Commemorative Service To Be Held At. Cranford Church
Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy will be celebrated at The First Baptist Church of Cranford on Thursday.
CRANFORD, NJ — Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy will be celebrated at The First Baptist Church of Cranford's commemorative service on Thursday.
This year, Phyllis Dunlop of First Presbyterian Church of Cranford will receive the 2022 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the event on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Dunlop is receiving the award for her lifelong work of caring for others, including the Service and Mission Team at First Presbyterian, Cranford Elmora Soup Kitchen, Operation Warm Heart, FISH Program, Community Food Bank in Hillside, CASA of Union County and mission pilgrimages to Nicaragua and Brazil, according to the Clergy Council.

A service and refreshments will follow the award ceremony.
In addition, the annual MLK Day of Service will take place on Monday, Jan. 16. A "Drive-up and Drop-off" food donation program is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Cranford.

Requested items include:
- Wrapped/bagged sandwiches for St. Joseph’s Soup Kitchen and Food for Friends of Rahway
- Diapers and wipes for Raphael’s Life House
- New socks, gloves and hats for the Elizabeth Coalition
- Pantry items for Cranford Family Care
- Women’s sanitary products
A table for the collection will be set up outside of Bates Hall on Springfield Avenue. Volunteers will be there to take the donated items out of the cars.
