Poor Air Quality In Union County Friday: NJDEP

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an air quality alert for Union County on Friday.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Action Day for Union County on Friday.

According to the NJDEP, the ground level ozone within the region may "approach or exceed unhealthy standards."

The air quality advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday night.

Friday's air quality forecast shows that Central New Jersey has an Air Quality Index of 59 and PM2.5, which is considered "moderate" air quality. PM2.5 signifies an air pollutant that could be dangerous for people's health when levels in air are high.

PM2.5 are tiny particles in the air that reduce visibility and cause the air to appear hazy when levels are elevated.
