Officials Investigate Racial Slurs Scrawled On Cranford School
Two racial slurs were written in graffiti on the grounds of Brookside Place School in Cranford.
CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford police and the Union County Prosecutor's Office are investigating two racial slurs written in graffiti on the grounds of Brookside Place School in Cranford.
The bias incident was reported to police and officials said a suspect was "identified and subsequently adjudicated."
Cranford Schools Superintendent issued a statement saying

"We are incredibly saddened by this act and stand firm in our conviction that all acts of hate or hate language are unacceptable. Any form of discrimination based on race, color, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, disability or any other category protected by state or federal law will not be tolerated. Cranford Public Schools will promptly report, investigate and respond to all allegations of discrimination, including harassment and retaliation, to the fullest extent possible and take appropriate disciplinary, corrective, and remedial measures necessary to ensure a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment for all."
Cranford schools recently received the NO PLACE FOR HATE designation by the Anti-Defamation League.
