New owners took over the restaurant in recent years and the dining room was renovated. However, classic dishes, such as escargots a la Bourguignonne and sole de douvres meuniere — Dover sole in a lemon and brown butter sauce — still remain.

Chez Catherine offers a risotto du jour, and NJ.com says the navarin d'agneau printanier, or braised leg of lamb with spring vegetable, is recommended.

The restaurant also offers a variety of desserts — from a classic crême brulée to a "pamplemousse et son sabayon gratine" — grapefruit wedges paired with a sauce made from egg yolks and sugar.

Ambeli Greek Taverna in Cranford was also given an honorable mention from NJ.com as one of the best restaurants in Union County.

The restaurant offers a large menu with all the traditional Greek favorites, such as gyro sandwiches and moussaka — a dish made of ground lamb, eggplant and tomatoes, with cheese on top.

If you're a fan of feta cheese, NJ.com says this is the place, as many of Ambeli's dishes and salads are topped with it.
