Shelter-In-Place Lifted At Cranford School After Social Media Threat
Hillside Avenue School conducted a shelter-in-place Friday afternoon after receiving a threat via social media, according to the district.
CRANFORD, NJ — A threat directed at Hillside Avenue School in Cranford prompted a lockdown Friday afternoon, according to Superintendent Dr. Scott Rubin.
The district received information regarding a potential threat on social media that possibly involved the middle school, Rubin said. In response, the school immediately initiated a shelter in place and reported the incident to the Cranford Police Department who arrived at Hillside Avenue School within moments, according to Rubin.
The school, in partnership with the Cranford Police Department, investigated the matter and determined that the threat is not credible, Rubin said. The shelter in place was lifted after being in effect for about five minutes.
