'A True Privilege': Mayor Reacts To Township Committee Voting
Dr. Terrence Curran went up against four other candidates for one of two seats with a three-year term.

CRANFORD, NJ — Dr. Terrence Curran (D), the current Mayor of Cranford, reacted on Wednesday to his run at one of two available seats on Township Committee on the ballot Tuesday.
Curran and current Commissioner of Public Safety Kathleen Miller Prunty (D) lead three other candidates as of the latest unofficial results. All districts have reported, according to the Union County Clerk's Office.
"I am deeply honored by the strong support that Kathleen Miller Prunty and I received from the Cranford community," Curran said Wednesday.

As of Wednesday, Curran was leading the group with 5,805 votes, followed by Miller Prunty with 5,655 votes, and Republican Richard Buontempo with 5,210 votes.
Among the major issues on the minds of voters was public safety, with the rising popularity of electronic vehicles. The Cranford Township Commission passed an ordinance to regulate e-bikes and scooters, giving police the ability to impound vehicles being operated carelessly.
Another sticking point voters were looking for more answers on is the rise in taxes. A $55 million bond referendum in January 2024 was said to be enriching facilities and projects for area schools, while some taxpayers believe the burden of developing luxury apartments and other features is being placed on residents.
"I look forward to working with the entire Township Committee to ensure that Cranford continues to thrive as a vibrant and welcoming community," Curran added.
Note: Results are not official until certified by the County Clerk 15 days after Election Day.
