Union County Man Charged After Large Amount Of Debris Left In Reservation, Police Say

The debris was equivalent to two 17-yard dumpsters.

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ — A man is being charged for illegally dumping loads of debris in the Watchung Reservation, Union County Police say.

Adrian Bermeo, of Elizabeth, is charged with unauthorized transportation or disposal of solid waste (N.J.S.A. 13:1E-9.3(A)). First offense violations are subject to a $2,500 fine.

Bermeo also received a County Ordinance violation for driving off a roadway. He will also be responsible for cleanup costs of more than $1,000.

On Sept. 23, officers found illegal dumping activity in the reservation. The materials that were removed were equivalent to two 17-yard dumpsters.

Bermeo later turned himself in and gave a full confession.
