2 Girls Killed In Fire After Birthday Party

A fire claimed the lives of two young girls in Newark early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Emergency responders found the girls lying unresponsive on the ground, with their bodies severely burned. Despite efforts to resuscitate them, the girls – who were 6 and 8 years old – were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Detectives learned there was a birthday party for one of the girls on the second floor of the home, and the girls were playing with fire near a couch in the hallway. Read more on Patch.

NJ Pilot Killed In Georgia Plane Crash

A father of four from Glen Rock has been identified as the pilot of a plane that crashed in Georgia on Oct. 13. Boris Yusupov was flying a small Cessna plane in front of a home in Savanna, GA, when it crashed in the front yard. Read more on Patch.

Man Killed In Police Shooting

Police officers shot and killed a man in Pemberton Township on Saturday, the Attorney General’s Office said. The incident took place in the Browns Mills section of Pemberton. A firearm was recovered near the man, authorities said. Read more on Patch.

NJ Under Stage 3 Fire Restriction After Wildfire In Morris Co.

Crews are working around the clock to put out a wildfire in Morris County.

A wildfire was reported in Rockaway Township on Saturday. As of Sunday, New Jersey Forest Fire Service crews made substantial progress in containing a wildfire in the area of Jacobs Road.

According to the NJ Forest Fire Service, 77 acres are currently on fire and so far firefighters have been able to contain 70 percent of it. Around 13 homes or structures in the area are threatened, but there were no evacuations in place. Read more on Patch.
