Zoning Board To Consider Proposal For 300-Plot Cemetery In East Brunswick

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – A Muslim congregation in East Brunswick is seeking approval from the East Brunswick Zoning Board of Adjustment to establish a 300-plot cemetery on their property.

Anjuman-e-Burhani has applied for preliminary and final major site plan approval, along with necessary variances.

The cemetery will be located at 341 Dunhams Corner Road in the RP Single-Family Rural Preservation District. The 9.19-acre property currently houses a mosque and parsonage serving the local Dawoodi Bohra Community.

Since cemeteries aren't permitted in this zone, use variance relief is required.

The township's Zoning Board is scheduled to hear the application during their meeting on Thursday.
