NEW JERSEY – A police officer ran over a woman who was sunbathing and authorities investigating the death of a 7-month-old infant highlight a busy Labor Day weekend in New Jersey.

Woman Run Over By Officer While Sunbathing
A woman was run over by a Wildwood police officer while she was sunbathing on the beach, according to reports.

The incident happened near Rio Grande Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 when the officer was responding to an unspecified ordinance violation, the Press of Atlantic City reported.
The woman was lying on a towel on the beach and was pinned under the truck, a witness told NJ.com. Other witnesses jumped in to help, digging and lifting the truck to free the woman, the report said.

The woman suffered broken ribs, three fractured vertebrae and a lung injury but was expected to survive, 6ABC reported. She had not been identified.
The matter is being investigated by Wildwood Police internal affairs division.
Man 'Sucked Underwater,' Hit By Propellers After Boat Collision
A man was hospitalized after being "sucked underwater" and hit by a boat's propellers in Manahawkin Bay on Saturday afternoon, NJ State Police said.
Joseph Quinn, 59 of Neshanic Station, was on a personal watercraft and collided with a 28-foot boat around 4:30 p.m., officials said. The impact ejected Quinn into the water, where he was "sucked underwater by the other vessel’s propulsion," NJSP said. The propellers of the other boat then hit him.
Quinn was taken to an area hospital for further treatment. No further information was provided.
Pedestrian Struck & Killed On Jersey Shore Highway
A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a driver Sunday morning, along a highway in Absecon, officials said.
The collision happened around 3:30 a.m. along Route 30 (Absecon Boulevard), west of the Delilah Road overpass, according to city police. The driver stayed at the scene to speak with law enforcement.
Authorities have not identified the pedestrian or the driver yet. Absecon Police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office will continue to investigate.
Patient Fires Gun In Emergency Room Of Hospital
A patient brought in by the police to receive treatment opened fire while at a hospital emergency room, according to reports.
The incident took place Saturday at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital when the shooter was brought in for evaluation. Just after noon, the person in custody took a police officer's gun and fired shots, 6ABC reported.
The Camden County prosecutor’s Office told NJ.com that there were no injuries or threats to patients and the staff.
The person was treated and later released to authorities. The investigation is ongoing.
Death Of Infant Under Investigation
Authorities in Newark are investigating the death of a 7-month-old infant, according to reports.
On Sunday morning, Newark Police were called to a home on Avon Avenue and South 10th Street for a report of an unresponsive child. The infant was taken to an area hospital where he was declared dead, NJ.com said.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating.
4-Year-Old Pulled From Pool In Berkeley
A 4-year-old boy was rescued from a swimming pool in South Seaside Park, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.
Berkeley police responded to the home on Aug. 30 around 3:30 p.m. where the boy was reported to be unresponsive after being removed from the pool, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Emergency life-saving techniques were performed on the child and he was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he is currently critical but stable as of Saturday morning, Billhimer said.
The incident is currently under investigation.
