5 East Brunswick Area Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

Make your holiday special by donating to nonprofits and spreading cheer.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — If you’re like many of your South Brunswick neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the East Brunswick area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

  1. REPLENISH, Middlesex County: REPLENISH is committed to eradicating hunger in Middlesex County. Through their network of over 160 organizations, they enable partners to wholly focus on feeding people and positively affecting more lives in more ways.
  2. New Beginnings Animal Rescue: The mission of New Beginnings Animal Rescue (NBAR) is to provide a safe haven for homeless animals by meeting their medical, physical, and emotional needs. They accomplish this mission by matching homeless animals with qualified loving adopters and providing daily essentials for residents to alleviate the financial burdens of pet ownership.
  3. Court Appointed Special Advocates of Middlesex County: Each year, hundreds of Middlesex County children spend time in foster care. Often confused, frightened, and caught in multiple government systems, these children need dedicated, caring adults looking out solely for their best interests. By donating an average of just a few hours a week, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) make a real and lasting difference in the lives of these vulnerable children.
  4. The North Brunswick Humane Association: The nonprofit serves the Greater Brunswick area with the purpose of educating and guiding the community in the humane treatment of animals. Through our networking, they partner with local rescues and shelters to provide venues for adoptions, subsidize spay/neuter costs, and provide other support for disenfranchised animals. They also collect and distribute pet food to shelters and colony caretakers, assist with finding lost pets, provide humane education, promote policies to protect animals , and strengthen penalties for animal-related offenses.
  5. Elijah's Promise: Since 1989, Elijah’s Promise has harnessed the power of food to break the cycle of poverty, alleviate hunger, and change lives. They operate a community soup kitchen, culinary arts school, a food truck which is a soup kitchen on wheels, and connect low-income individuals and families with social and health services.
