Awards and Honors for Local Students Attending College
The following students were recognized for academic excellence this year.

The following students recently received awards and honors from their respective colleges.
Ithaca College student Marissa Osowsky, of East Brunswick, recently received a 2012 Advertising Women of New York (AWNY) Scholarship. An integrated marketing communications major in the Roy H. Park School of Communications, Osowsky is planning a career in the advertising industry. AWNY promotes the advancement of women in the communications field through programs that enhance career skills and focus on current industry trends and strategies.
Osowsky is an active member of the American Advertising Federation student chapter, serving as president and project manager. She was awarded an internship at McGarrah Jessee in Austin, Texas through the AAF Vance Stickle Program. Osowsky is also a member of the Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society.

Victoria Guen, of East Brunswick, a member of the Bowdoin College Class of 2013, was honored for academic excellence during the College's annual Sarah and James Bowdoin Day ceremony, held Sept. 28. Guen is earning a major in Art History/Visual Arts .
Sara Parker, of East Brunswick, was named to Linestone College's Spring 2012 Dean's List. The Dean's List at Limestone is comprised of full-time students receiving the grade of "A" in all of their courses. Limestone College is a four-year, liberal arts institution with its main campus in Gaffney, S.C.

Binita Patel, of East Brunswick, has been named to the summer 2012 Dean's list at University of the Sciences. Selection for this award is based on completing and passing all assigned courses with no grade below a "C" and attaining an academic average of at least 3.4 for courses taken in the summer semester of 2012. Patel is a doctor of pharmacy student.
