2 Brothers Killed In Violent Crash, Body Recovered From Waterfront

NEW JERSEY — The body of a man was recovered from the Hudson River in Hoboken and one person was killed after they were struck by a train.

Brothers Killed After Car Plunges Off I-95

Two brothers from New Jersey were killed and two others are in critical condition after a car plunged off Interstate 95 in Philadelphia and onto the street below, according to state police.

Police said a Mazda was traveling north on I-95 around 8:10 p.m. Friday when the driver lost control and somehow left the road. The car went through a guardrail and overturned multiple times before coming to a stop on Castor Avenue below the interstate.

Man's Body Recovered From Waterfront

A man's body was recovered from the Hudson River in Hoboken on Sunday, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

Police closed two Hoboken waterfront parks due to an investigation in the area.

Man Found Dead In North Jersey Jail

An inmate from Hudson County jail died on Friday afternoon, officials said.

Derrick Ellis, 63, of Jersey City was pronounced dead at Jersey City Medical Center shortly before 1:30 p.m., the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

62-Year-Old Charged In Fatal Hit-&-Run

A 62-year-old Piscataway woman was arrested and charged for fleeing the scene of a fatal accident that took place in August 2024, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel said.

Shernice Benbow, 62, was charged with second-degree leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and third-degree endangering injured victim in connection with the fatal accident.

On Aug. 30, 2024, police responded to the 400 block of East Front St. in Plainfield on reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. On arrival, they found Jennifer Harris, 67, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“While this arrest does not bring Ms. Harris back, we hope it brings some solace to her loved ones,” Daniel said.

Person Hit & Killed By Train

One person was killed after they were struck by a CSX train in Bergen County, the train company said.

A CSX train struck and killed a pedestrian around 1:20 p.m. Saturday on the tracks near La Roche Avenue and Semmens Road in Harrington Park, A CSX spokesperson said.

Man Shot & Killed In Paterson

A 21-year-old Garfield resident was shot and killed on Saturday evening in Paterson, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.

Around 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, Paterson police responded to the area of 12th Avenue and East 24th Street on a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found the 21-year-old man had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The unidentified man was taken to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. This investigation is active and ongoing.
