Bonfires, Fireworks Ban In East Brunswick Due To Drought
Officials have also asked residents not to use any type of fireworks, including legal fireworks during Diwali.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Officials in East Brunswick have imposed a ban on all bonfires and firework displays in town, due to the ongoing drought conditions in New Jersey.
The Garden State is currently under Stage 3 burn restrictions imposed by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
East Brunswick Fire Prevention Districts 1, 2 & 3 will not be issuing any permits for bonfires, open burning, or fireworks until further notice, officials announced.

"This precaution is to ensure the safety of all residents and properties during this time," officials said.
Officials have also asked residents not to use any type of fireworks, including legal fireworks (novelties) during Diwali. "This will also ensure the safety of all residents and properties," fire officials said. Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, will be officially celebrated from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1.

Over the weekend, several fires were reported across the Garden State, claiming a life and causing damage to property and forests.
