Bowlers Become Sectional Champs
The East Brunswick boys bowling team are Central Jersey Sectional Champs and are vying for a state title on Wednesday.
The East Brunswick Boys bowling team won the Central Jersey Group IV Sectional Saturday at the Brunswick Zone/Carolier, for its third consecutive sectional win.
In addition, senior Charlie Reisert bowled a 706 series will advance to the Individual State Finals on Wednesday along with fellow Bear, Morgan Brown.
With the win, the boys will bowl on Friday for the Group IV State Championship. The 10 Group IV teams that advanced Saturday are as follows:

Central Jersey: East Brunswick and Hunterdon Central;
South Jersey: Jackson Memorial and Brick Memorial;

North IA: Paramus Catholic and Northern Highlands;
North IB: Bayonne and Clifton;
North II: Livingston and Union.
On Friday, each team will bowl two traditional five-man games and then five baker games to determine the Group I, II, III and IV Champions.
Once the group winners have been determined, the four Group winners will bowl in a four-team tournament to determine the overall state champion.
The boys finished the year 20-2, and won the Red Division for the third straight year over a very strong Woodbridge team. The team finished second or higher in every tournament that it entered this year.
The girls finished the year 14-3-2 and were crowned Red Division Champions over Piscataway and South Brunswick. The girls went 3-0 during the regular season against Piscataway and 0-1-1 against South Brunswick. The other two losses were to a very strong North Brunswick team, which included the GMC Semi-final match where the Bears won the second game but lost the third.
