Burglar Flees After Discovering Resident is Home
Police are looking for a man who startled a homeowner after kicking in her bedroom door.

A Pine Ridge woman interrupted a burglary Wednesday morning when an intruder entered her home while she was in the bedroom.
At 10:27 a.m., East Brunswick Police responded to a residence on Pine Ridge Drive for a burglary in progress. The resident was asleep in her bedroom when she heard footsteps in the hallway and assumed that a family member had come home. She was startled, as was the intruder, when he kicked in her bedroom door and realized that someone was home, according to Detective Sgt. Kevin Zebro. The intruder fled the residence out the back door and through the backyard.
While investigating the burglary, officers found another residence on Pine Ridge Drive that had been burglarized. In that residence no one was home and at this time it is unknown what had been taken, according to Zebro.
The area was searched with assistance of the New Jersey State Police K-9 Unit but no suspects were found.
The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5-foot, 8 inches tall, with a slightly thicker build with a shaved or bald head and wearing a burgundy sweater.
