Celebrate Seuss: Pick Up a Book, Pass It Around
Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday today (March 2) by joining book lovers and your local school or public library for Read Across America day.

The National Education Association, a group of more than 3.2 million educators who work to improve public schools, is calling on book lovers around the nation to take up The Lorax, the popular Dr. Seuss children's book published in 1971 about the lovable creature who fights to save the environment.
The book, an environmental fable, has been made into a film featuring the voices of Danny DeVito, Taylor Swift and Zack Ephron. The film opens tonight at Mega Movies at the Brunswick Square Mall and is one of three films tied to Patch's movie night promotion on March 15. Customers who sign up for a Patch newsletter at the theater that night will get a discount on their admission between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. for The Lorax, Act of Valor or 1,000 Words.
Share your plans for celebrating Read Across America Day with Patch or on the Read Across America pledge site. NEA and Lorax' publisher, Random House, also have lesson plans and lots of other materials, resources and printable activities for teachers, parents and kids.
