East Brunswick Appoints New Municipal Judge
Attorney Shabbir Q. Shehabuddin was nominated by Mayor Brad Cohen for the role.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – East Brunswick has appointed a new judge to serve the Municipal court.
Mayor Brad J. Cohen nominated Attorney Shabbir Q. Shehabuddin for the role, and the Township Council approved the appointment at the March 10, 2025, council meeting.
Shehabuddin is currently associated with the Law Offices of Abdelhadi & Associates, LLC, where he has led the firm's litigation practice since 2008, handling commercial, civil, family, and criminal cases.

His experience also includes serving as a municipal prosecutor for East Brunswick and as an attorney for the Passaic County Board of Social Services, the township said in a media release.
Before entering private practice, Shehabuddin clerked for the late Ho. Harold W. Fullilove of the New Jersey Superior Court in Essex County.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University in 2002 and his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2005, where he served as an Articles Editor for the Seton Hall Seton Hall Legislative Journal.
