East Brunswick To Host 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony For 2024

The community will gather with a candlelight vigil to remember eight East Brunswick residents and all those who lost their lives.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Township will be holding a 9/11 remembrance ceremony for 2024 on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. outdoors at the 9/11 Monument at the East Brunswick Municipal Complex, 1 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive.

The community will gather with a candlelight vigil to remember eight East Brunswick residents and all those who lost their lives on that day.

They will also honor the heroic efforts of thousands of first responders, rescue teams, and volunteers who selflessly assisted that day and all the days that followed.

East Brunswick Township Council President, Kevin McEvoy, and the rest of the Township Council will lead the observance.

Two guest speakers will be present for the ceremony - Assistant Safety Officer Fred Hoover of the Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, and Captain Thomas Kienle of the East Brunswick Police Department.

The ceremony will include musical performances from the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra, reflections from Pastors Kevin and Crystal Pleasant, and a Color Guard from the East Brunswick Fire Districts 1, 2, and 3.

This year, East Brunswick will be holding a 9/11 National Day of Service Food Drive in honor of the victims.

All donations will be given to the Aldersgate Outreach Community Center in East Brunswick.

The 9/11 Day of Service Food Drive will take place on Sept. 11 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Complex.

Non-perishable food items, in non-glass containers will be collected.
