East Brunswick Ordinance To Restrict Tractor-Trailers On These Roads

Recently authorities had to tow away parked tractor-trailers as they were obstructing paving work.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – East Brunswick on Monday introduced an ordinance that seeks to restrict tractor-trailers parked along West Ferris Street and Sixth Street.

The township said it received several complaints of vehicles, specifically of tractor-trailers, parked along West Ferris Street, between Route 18 Southbound and the end of the street, and Sixth Street from Lowes’s Home Improvement Parking Lot to the beginning of the property lines of 33 Sixth Street and 34 Sixth Street.

Business administrator Joseph Criscuolo said last week when crews went to West Farris Street to complete paving work, they were obstructed by parked tractor-trailers. This despite a message being put out by the township a week in advance.

For work to continue, authorities had to tow away the tractor-trailers.

“In this case, we got their attention because we are paving and we towed them. Some of them got quite sizeable towing bills and storage fees,” Criscuolo said.

Councilman James Wendell noted that there are many streets in the township where tractor-trailers are parked and often they leak oil and fuel, and block the passage of the emergency services.

Criscuolo said that hydraulic fluids destroyed West Ferris Street, which was noticed during paving.
