East Brunswick Public Library Hosts Fall Caregiver Series

Three programs coming to East Brunswick Public Library

Caring for older relatives can be both the most challenging and rewarding responsibilities you can have. To help caregivers, East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive) is hosting a series of programs for caregivers this fall.

The series begins with “Empowering Parkinson’s Caregivers: Strategies for Effective Support and Compassionate Care” on Thursday, October 3 at 7:00 pm. This seminar addresses common concerns and issues that arise throughout the stages of the disease. It will also outline local resources available for patients and caregivers, safety concerns around the home, and fun ways to be involved in your loved one’s care team.

Joann P. Reinhardt presents “Reiki for Caregivers” on Wednesday, November 6 at 7:00 pm. This program explores the use of meditative practices such as reiki energy therapy as a means of deep relaxation. A meditation with reiki and sound will also be provided. Please bring a mat and small blanket if you would like to lay down for the meditation.

The library teams up with the Greater New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association on Wednesday, November 20 at 7:00 pm. Titled “10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s,” this presentation focuses on how to help caregivers recognize common signs of the disease in themselves and others and identify next steps to take, including how to talk to their doctor.

All programs are held at the library as well as on Zoom. Additional information can be found online at www.tinyurl.com/fcgs2024.
