East Brunswick’s Sam Mattis To Compete In Olympics On Thursday

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Get ready to cheer for East Brunswick’s very own, Sam Mattis, on Thursday night.

The athlete will represent Team USA in the discus at the Tokyo games on Thursday at 8:45 p.m., ET. The games will be telecast on NBC. You can also follow his progress by clicking here.

Mattis made the Olympics for the first time when he took third place in Men's U.S. Track & Field Olympic discus trials held in June. He won bronze with a throw of 205-1.

Mattis, 27, is a graduate of East Brunswick High School. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, where he was the 2015 NCAA national champion in the discus. Mattis turned down a lucrative job offer from JPMorgan Chase to pursue his Olympic dream, according to Team USA.
