East Brunswick's Mattis Fails To Advance In Olympic Discus
Mattis came in 7th during the Group A qualifier in Paris.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ —Sam Mattis has ended his Olympic run. The East Brunswick native failed to advance to the men’s discus finals in Paris.
Mattis competed in the Group A qualifier coming in 7th with a throw of 62.66 meters.
Only the top 6 throwers advance to the finals. The sixth-place thrower, Sweden's Daniel Stahl, made a throw of 65.16 meters.

Mattis' personal record is 68.69 meters. He won first place in the 2015 NCAA National Championships.
Mattis finished second in the discus throw at the 2024 United States Olympic Trials to qualify for his second straight Olympic team.
