East Brunswick's Vermella Begins Plans For Phase 2 Of Redevelopment

The developers are seeking permission to begin Phase 2 which includes 240 apartments.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Developers for Vermella East Brunswick, the luxury apartment development on the Route 18 corridor, have filed an application to begin Phase II of the redevelopment.

EB Development Urban Renewal LLC., has filed an application with the Township’s Planning Board seeking permission to begin Phase II of the project.

This phase includes constructing a five-story building with 240 apartments.

The project will consists of demolishing the existing commercial buildings and the associated surface parking lots and then the redevelopment of site.

The redevelopment will include construction of a residential building with garage parking, a park and site improvements like landscaping, lighting, signage, etc.

The project will replace approximately 121,206 square feet of prior existing retail space, according to the application. Two parking garages and multiple surface parking lots will support the proposed redevelopment.

The plan proposes eight studio apartments, 101 one-bedroom apartment, 24 one-bedroom and den apartments, three affordable one-bedroom units, 70 two-bedroom units, 7 two-bedroom units with den, nine two-bedroom affordable units, 15 three-bedroom apartments and three affordable three-bedroom units.

The property is being developed by Russo Development and River Development.

The Planning Board is expected to hear the application on Aug. 28.
