EB Motorists Reminded to Yield to Pedestrians and "Click it or Ticket"

The East Brunswick Police Department has announced that they will be ramping up their pedestrian safety and seat belt enforcement campaigns.

The East Brunswick Police Department has announced that it will be participating in two safety campaigns, one targeting pedestrian safety and the other enforcing the wearing of seat belts while driving in East Brunswick.

According to a Nixle message from the East Brunswick Police Department, officers will be conducting “zero tolerance” enforcement of violations such as speeding, careless driving, traffic signal violations and failing to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks.

Officers will be setting up "enforcement locations" in random spots throughout East Brunswick and "decoy operations" will also be used, the message said.

Pedestrians are also reminded to obey crossing signs at intersections and cross at the proper places, according to the message.

The "Click it or Ticket" campaign in East Brunswick began on May 20 and will run through June 2.

The annual initiative involves police checkpoints and an information campaign to remind citizens to buckle up while in their vehicles, according to the message.
