EBPD Swears in a New Officer

Jeffrey Dougherty is joining the ranks of the East Brunswick Department of Public Safety.

The East Brunswick Department of Public Safety sworn in its newest member Thursday.

Patrolman Jeffrey Dougherty was sworn in at the East Brunswick Municipal Conference Room and is replacing a recently retired member.

Patrolman Dougherty, an East Brunswick resident, is 25 years old and is a 2005 graduate of Spotswood High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. While attending Rutgers University, he worked as a Community Service Officer. He grew up in Milltown and has been a member of the Milltown Fire Department for seven years.

Patrolman Dougherty completed his basic police training at Essex County College Police Academy in July 2010 and has served as a Police Officer with the Rutgers University Police Department-Newark Division for two years.

After completing his field training, Patrolman Dougherty will be assigned to the Patrol Section.
