Girl Scouts, Mayor Stahl to Host Flag Retirement Ceremony Friday
The event is open to the public and begins at 7 p.m.
Girl Scouts, Sophia Moccio and Karalyn Hoover of Troop 80429 will be hosting a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the courtyard of the East Brunswick Municipal Complex at 1 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive at 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013. (Rain Date is scheduled for Saturday, June 15 at 12 p.m.)
Sophia and Karalyn have developed this event as their Girl Scout Silver Award Project, which is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. The project is chosen to make a difference in the Girl Scout’s local community.
The program will include a brief welcome from the girls, followed by a greeting from Mayor David Stahl. Their fellow Girl Scouts will serve as the Color Guard, Patriotic songs will be sung by Michael Kendis. Sophia and Karalyn will then demonstrate the proper process of retiring unserviceable flags. Taps will be provided by the East Brunswick VFW Post #133.

The public is invited to attend this event and join East Brunswick in honoring the American Flag and our Veterans. The event is organized by Girl Scouts, Sophia Moccio and Karalyn Hoover, with assistance from the Township of East Brunswick, Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services.
