Here’s The Latest Update On The East Brunswick Ice Rink
The ice arena is scheduled to be ready by December.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – Construction continues on East Brunswick's long-awaited ice rink, with officials reporting the facility is slated for a December opening.
On Monday, the Council adopted two resolutions related to the ice arena project.
The first resolution authorized a change order with Terminal Construction Corporation, increasing the contract from $28,680,362.85 to $29,280,362.85. The additional $600,000 will fund several upgrades including a second-floor fitness lease area, front reception desk modifications with security enhancements, team locker room installations, low-voltage improvements such as security cameras and card access systems, and epoxy floor finishing in showers and other concrete areas.

The original contract amount covered installation of a roof-mounted solar panel system designed to offset the facility's utility costs.
Councilman James Wendell said he consulted with Mayor Brad Cohen and Keith Kipp, director of Planning and Engineering, about the additional work. Officials determined it would be more efficient to have Terminal Construction handle the extra installations rather than bringing in a new contractor.

"It was just more expeditious to give this change order to Terminal to allow them to do this work. So I'm very comfortable with the numbers and very comfortable with where we're at," Wendell told the Council. "I've been kind of a skeptic on some of this stuff. I have a lot of knowledge and construction background, so I feel very confident with the move."
The second resolution awarded Daktronics Inc. $167,413 to purchase scoreboards and displays for the facility.
In a recent Facebook video, Kipp told residents the ice rink is scheduled to be ready by December this year.
