Library Program Tackles “Getting Rid of Plastics”
The goal of this event is to show local residents how they can clean up the community and make a difference in the plastics crisis.

Did you know that over 15,000 plastic water bottles are used every second? In order to reduce the use of single plastic bottles in our community, East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive), East Brunswick chapter of Hadassah, the East Brunswick Sustainability Task Force and Alpha Deta Kappa are hosting the public forum “Getting Rid of Plastics One Bottle At A Time” on Wednesday, July 6 at 7:00 pm.
The goal of this event is to show local residents how they can clean up the community and make a difference in the plastics crisis. It includes a panel of experts moderated by Nancy Kranich. The panel includes Rutgers University associate professor Nicole Fahrenheid, epidemiologist Yvette Schlussel, Hammarskjold Middle School science teacher Melissa Novak, student Eliza King, East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen, and Middlesex County Clerk Nancy Pinkin.
Those attending the event will be able to see displays featuring books on environmental issues, eco-friendly products showcased by Alpha Deta Kappa president Karen Ellingson Nonestied, and the winners of the Hammarsjkold Middle School poster contest. There will also be door prizes.
