Library Roof Work Has Begun

The library will be open 1 to 9 p.m. for at least a month as the building gets a new roof.

Have you seen the library's roof lately? No, you're not seeing things, that's a portable bathroom parked there to be used by roofers installing a new "lid" on the building.

To accomodate the roof work, the East Brunswick Public Library will be changing its hours to 1 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday while the project continues. Weekend hours will remain the same: Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.

The East Brunswick Township Council approved a resolution in September awarding a contract for $409,750 to Strober-Wright Roofing Inc. for the project.

Library Director MaryEllen Firestone said the project could take approximately 4 weeks, barring any weather related delays. Strict safety regulations require that the area of the building being worked on each day will be off limits to both staff and customers.  There will be days that certain collections will not be available until the work on that section of the roof is completed. Please help our staff maintain services by understanding that during the project many functions of the building will be moving around and some services will be unavailable for days at a time.”
