POLICE: Stay Off the Roads
The East Brunswick Police Department wants non-essential cars off the road. Drivers are endangering themselves and others, and interfering with the clean up.

For safety sake, East Brunswick Deputy Police Chief William Krause Jr. wants people to stay off the roads.
“Approximately 48 hours ago, a travel ban was announced for the township. Now that the storm has passed, please do not mistakenly think that the problems are also over. Township first responders and emergency crews still have much work to do to assess and correct the problems that still exist. One of the our major issues at the moment is the fact that our roads are covered with downed trees, downed utility poles, downed power lines and debris. The condition of our roadways is treacherous. The fact that so many non-essential personnel have chosen to ignore the travel ban is only increasing the dangerous conditions for first responders and emergency crews. Drivers are ignoring road closures and endangering themselves and emergency workers. I cannot stress enough the importance for all non-essential personnel to remain off the roads. This is for your safety as well as the safety of the people who are working hard to address the storm damage to East Brunswick. People who disregard any traffic control devices, such as barricades and posted police officers, will be subject to receiving traffic summonses for violation of motor vehicle statutes.
“Please, we are working around the clock to address all of the storm issues that are affecting you. In order to do this in as timely a manner as possible, we need your assistance. Please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep safe those that are working to keep you safe.”
