Recycle, Donate, Shop and Dance This Weekend

There's a whole slate of places to recycle and things to do this weekend in East Brunswick.

 

Whether you have a garage filled with stuff you want to get rid of, a medicine cabinet full of drugs you want to dispose of, or if you just want to get out and meet some neighbors, then this is the weekend to do it.

This weekend, you’ll get a chance to attend a Freecycling event at Crystal Springs, dispose of your prescription at the police station, donate a bicycle to Pedals for Progress, shop for a craft or meet friends and neighbors at the Y’s Healthy Kids Day.

Here’s a look at some of the things going on this weekend.

  1. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has scheduled another .Bring your unwanted and unused prescriptions drugs to the on Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and have them disposed of safely by the DEA. The police department is located at 1 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive, East Brunswick.
  2. If you have extra bicycles in your garage or basement but don’t know what to do with them, then load them in your car and bring them to the parking lot at the on Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to noon and donate them to Pedals for Progress. The event is sponsored by the East Brunswick/South River Rotary Club.
  3. Also on Saturday, head to the Raritan Valley YMCA, 144 Tices Lane, for . Beginning at noon, there will be dancing, music, games, and a variety of resources to discover how you and your children can live healthier. The event is free.
  4. Following on the  success of the first Freecycle event in the fall, the second East Brunswick  event will be held Sunday, April 29 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Crystal Springs parking lot. The event is open to anyone regardless of where you live. Bring your unwanted items to be reused by someone who needs them, instead of sending them to the landfill. You can bring or take items such as - furniture, clothing, bicycles, fish tanks, kitchen items—dishes, pots and pans, silverware, small appliances; garage items—tools, pipes, screws and nails, power tools; electronics—DVD players, VCR, cables and wires, printers, and any other items made of, or containing metal. Usable items will be freecycled and free for the taking, unusable and broken items will be recycled along with anything left at the end of the day by our vendor. Do not bring toys, televisions, paints, pesticides, or any hazardous material. The event is sponsored by the East Brunswick Environmental Commission & The Friends; East Brunswick Recycling Center; East Brunswick Division of Recreation, Parks and Community Services; and R. Mor Enterprises Inc.
  5. Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Visit the East Brunswick High School on Sunday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a Spring Mother’s Day Gift Show sponsored by Treazure Scapes, LLC, a Professional Fund Raising Company. Proceeds will benefit the East Brunswick High School Drama Club and the East Brunswick Young Adult Charity Players (EBYACP) Arts’ Programs. Bring the family and visit the photographer for a Photo with Mom ($5). Peruse an array of fine hand-crafted items at this show. Enjoy a wide variety of unique creations in all mediums.
