Ring In 2024 With These Events Around Middlesex County
Live music, fireworks, and an early ball drop for the kids are among the events going on locally to celebrate the new year.
MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — It's almost time to welcome in the new year, and there are celebrations and events in several communities around Middlesex County coming up this weekend to ring in 2024.
Whether you're looking for somewhere to take the kids, or for a nice date night out, here are several ideas for events around the area:
The county's Roosevelt Park Family Outdoor Skating Rink in Edison is open for the season, through March 31, 2024. The rink will operate reduced hours on New Year's Eve, with skate sessions from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. On Dec. 30 and Jan. 1, it will operate a weekend schedule with three skate sessions, including a 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. time slot as well as the ones beginning at 12 and 3, according to the county.

- Tickets: Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for children and seniors. Skate rental and skate sharpening are available.
Metuchen is hosting a New Year “Eve of the Eve” on Saturday, Dec. 30 with entertainment, a giant robot, and an early ball drop around 6:45 p.m.

- Tickets: The event is free, but you may reserve a spot on Eventbrite.
The 35th annual Festival of Trees is going on through Jan. 6 at the Museum of the American Hungarian Foundation in New Brunswick, representing countries and cultures around the world. Several of the trees are placed around downtown New Brunswick, as well.

Drive-through holiday lights spectacular Winter WonderLights is open every night in East Brunswick through New Year’s Eve, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the last car admitted at 9:45 p.m.

Ring in the New Year with fireworks, live music, and more in New Brunswick’s Winter Wonderland. Special events on Sunday, Dec. 31 include the Salute to Vienna New Year’s Concert at State Theatre New Jersey; live comedy show with Jesus Trejo at The Stress Factory, and fireworks at Monument Park.
