Rt. 18 In East Brunswick To Be Closed Monday, Tuesday Night
The roadwork is part of the $86.1 million federally funded Route 18 construction project.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – Route 18 in East Brunswick is scheduled for closure and detours beginning Monday night, through Tuesday for road work.
The road will be closed between Tices Lane and Milltown Road as the pavement project advances, New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials said.

Beginning at 9:30 p.m. Monday, until 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, and again on Tuesday, at the same time, Route 18 northbound is scheduled to be closed from Milltown Road to Tices Lanes.
Contractors will be working on drainage installation. If work is completed on Monday night, Route 18 northbound will remain open on Tuesday night. The following detour will be in place:

- Motorists on Route 18 northbound will be directed to turn right onto Milltown Road
- Turn left onto Old Bridge Turnpike/CR 527
- Turn left onto Tices Lane
- Turn right onto Route 18 northbound
Route 18 Southbound Closure Beginning at 11 p.m. Monday, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, and again on Tuesday, at the same time, Route 18 Southbound is scheduled to be closed from Tices Lane to Milltown Road. The following detour will be in place:
- Motorists on Route 18 southbound will be directed to turn right onto Tices Lane
- Turn left onto Harts Lane
- Turn left onto Milltown Road
- Turn right onto Route 18 southbound
The roadwork is part of the $86.1 million federally funded Route 18, East Brunswick, Drainage and Pavement Rehabilitation project that will make repairs on approximately four and a half miles of Route 18 in East Brunswick. Work includes milling and paving, improvements to the drainage systems and storm water basins, utility relocation, installation of new sidewalks and ADA-compliant curb ramps and upgrading guiderail.
Improvements will also be made to various intersections throughout the project limits.
The project is expected to be completed in fall 2026.
