Katz, an East Brunswick resident, began his martial arts training in 1979. He has headed the East Brunswick school for nearly two decades.

Recently, the school moved from its longtime location in the Loehmann's shopping plaza to an expanded space located at 510 Route 18.

The school offers classes Monday-Saturday.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, a "Bullyshield" workshop will be held at the school for grade school-age children.

The program will discuss ways of preventing and deflecting bullying. The fee to attend is $25 per child and includes a free t-shirt.

Editor's note: "Osu" is a phrase with Japanese roots that is used as an acknowledgement and a sign of respect. It is how Tiger Schulmann's East Brunswick students greet and respond to their Sensei and vice-versa.
