Officer Injured In Shooting

A police officer from Trenton was injured in a shooting that took place on Saturday night in the City.

The New Jersey State PBA said the unnamed officer was shot around 9 p.m. on Perry Street. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and is currently on the road to recovery.

Woman Killed In Hit-&-Run

A Passaic County woman was killed this weekend after what appears to be a hit-and-run incident, according to police.

Authorities said that pieces of a car were found scattered on the road near her body.

Resident Killed In Pequannock Township House Fire

A 55-year-old resident died in a Sunday morning house fire in Pequannock Township.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene on Lyman Avenue around 2 a.m. to find a home engulfed in flames. According to officials, two residents were able to escape the burning home, but 55-year-old Christine Francescone was trapped inside.

Fire Damages Elementary School

A fire that damaged Piner Elementary School in Lakewood on Friday night remains under investigation on Saturday, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

The fire was reported about 7:30 p.m. at the school on East County Line Road, the prosecutor's office said.

Man Faces Homicide, DWI Charges After Crash Kills Father, Injures Toddler

A man is facing vehicular homicide and DWI charges after the minivan he was driving fatally struck a pedestrian and left his young son hospitalized in critical condition, authorities say.

The crash – which also injured several other people, took place as a man and his 3-year-old son were crossing South Grove Street in East Orange at 10:06 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
