2 Injured After Car Crashes Into Box Truck On Rt. 1 West Windsor

Route 1 was closed for 4 hours on Sunday morning following the crash, authorities said.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ – One person was seriously injured and another suffered minor injuries after a car crashed into a box truck in West Windsor on Sunday morning, police said.

Around 03:46 a.m. on Sunday, West Windsor Police received a 911 call about a crash on Route 1 South at Meadow Road.

According to investigation, a 2017 Toyota sedan was traveling south on Route 1 approaching the Meadow Road overpass when for unknown reasons, it struck a box truck in the rear that was also traveling southbound, police said.

As a result of the crash, the box truck tipped over on its side and came to rest. A 25-year-old Somerset resident suffered a serious head injury, which police said was non-life threatening. He was taken to Capital Health Medical Center at Fuld for treatment and is in stable condition.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 43-year-old resident of Pennsauken, suffered minor injuries, and refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.

The road was closed in the area for approximately four hours following the crash, as authorities investigated.
