Armed Man Stole Packages From Multiple NJ Homes, Police Say
Calvin Stevens is facing multiple charges after he was arrested and charged in connection with two package thefts, police said.
HAMILTON, NJ — A man is facing multiple charges after police said they found him with a loaded handgun and items from packages that were stolen from two local homes.
Calvin Stevens has been accused of stealing packages from a home on the 100 block of Lewis Avenue and the 200 block of Steward Street around 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, police said.
Stevens was arrested and charged in connection with these incidents after police saw him walking in the area and matched him to the suspect's description.

After officers spoke to a witness and watched video surveillance, police said they were able to confirm that Stevens was the suspect and told him they were placing him under arrest.
Though Stevens then tried to flee the area on foot, police said he was quickly apprehended and placed into custody.

During a search of Stevens after the arrest, police found a loaded Kel-Tec handgun along with merchandise from the stolen packages.
Stevens was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, possession of defaced firearm, certain persons not to have weapons, theft, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and obstructing the administration of law, police said.
He was then brought to the Mercer County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing. Information on Stevens' age and hometown was not immediately available.
