Assault By Auto, Reckless Driving: East Windsor Police Blotter
The East Windsor Police blotter dated Jan. 24 had the following reports:
EAST WINDSOR, NJ — On Jan. 18 at 2:25 p.m., Walmart loss prevention personnel told police an individual entered the store on Jan. 16 and went to the jewelry section. The man asked to see a gold chain valued at $349.00 and then swapped it with a different chain. An employee confronted the man who then left the store. The detective assigned to the case identified the suspect as a Jamesburg resident and charged him on a summons pending court action.
On Jan. 19 at 3 p.m., Walmart loss prevention personnel contacted the police for shoplifting. The suspect fled the store with $978.60 worth of merchandise. The case was assigned to a detective who was able to identify the suspect, a Trenton resident, after they were arrested by East Windsor Police for shoplifting at Walmart again. The woman was charged on a summons pending court action.
On Jan. 20 at 7:10 p.m., an officer responded to Walmart for a report of a shoplifter being detained by loss prevention personnel. Investigation revealed that a Trenton resident attempted to leave the store without paying for $296.59 worth of merchandise. The 32-year-old was placed under arrest and later released pending court action.

On Jan. 20 at 6:49 p.m., an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for multiple traffic violations. However, the driver accelerated and crashed a short distance away. The East Windsor fled on foot but was found a short time later in frozen water and exhibited signs of impairment. The 34-year-old resisted arrest but was ultimately taken into custody, police said. The driver was charged on a summons and later released pending court action.
On Jan. 12 at 11:16 p.m., an officer responded to Route 133 West near Route 571 for a motor vehicle accident. A witness observed one of the drivers dispose of alcoholic beverages on the side of the road and flee on foot prior to police arrival. The driver was located a short distance away and exhibited signs of impairment, police said. The driver, an East Windsor resident, was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The occupants of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. The 39-year-old was charged on a summons and later released pending court action.

On Jan. 21, at 1:41 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Route 133 West by the Route 130 South exit for an unregistered vehicle. The officer returned to her patrol SUV and the rear passenger exited the vehicle. The passenger climbed over the guardrail and jumped down the wooded embankment that leads to Route 130. The Trenton resident was located in the wooded area on Route 130 and placed under arrest. He was taken to police headquarters, processed and released on a summons pending court action.
On Jan. 22, at 2:41 p.m., an officer responded to Walmart for a shoplifting in progress. Loss prevention personnel saw an individual leave the store without paying for $66.71 worth of merchandise. The officer followed the man’s footprints in the snow and found him hiding under a tractor-trailer. The 52-year-old East Windsor resident was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters where he was later released on a summons pending court action.
