Careless Driving, Shoplifting: East Windsor Police Blotter

The East Windsor Police blotter dated Dec. 12 had the following reports:

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — On Dec. 7 at 2:37 a.m., an officer responded to Route 130 North at the intersection of Old Cranbury Road for a motor vehicle crash. The at-fault driver sustained minor injuries and showed signs of impairment. Additionally, there were multiple bottles of beer inside of the driver’s vehicle. The 34-year-old East Brunswick resident was charged with DUI and taken to the hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Dec. 10, at 9:30 a.m., an officer responded to Walmart for a report of an active shoplifting in progress. The man selected multiple items totaling $174.51 and proceeded to the self-checkout. The payment was declined and the man attempted to leave the store with unpaid merchandise. The Katy, Texas resident was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, processed, and later released on a summons pending court action.
