'Double Vision' Exhibit Showcases 2 Prominent State Artists

Two New Jersey artists, Bernice Rappoport and Paula Swelt, will be exhibiting in the Gourgaud Gallery, located in Cranbury Town Hall between Oct. 6 and Oct. 27.

Rappoport chooses subjects that have a personal connection, according to Susan Troost, a member of the Gourgaud Gallery Committee. Many of Rappoport's paintings feature the play of light on landscapes, portraits, figures, and still life. 

Swelt explores a wide range of subjects and aims to capture a moment in time, Troost said. Her painting “Burst of Flowers” was featured on the cover of the On the Go section of the Home News Tribune.

Both artists enjoy working in various mediums, especially watercolor, and they both are members in the prestigious Garden State Water Color Society and New Jersey Water Color Association. Their work has been selected into various juried exhibitions and have won awards. Both artists artwork is also in private collections.

Their show, entitled “Double Vision”, kicks off on Sunday, Oct. 6 with a reception at the Gourgaud Gallery between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Otherwise, the work will be on display in the gallery until Oct. 27.
