EAST WINDSOR, NJ — A house was damaged in a fire Sunday in East Windsor.

Authorities responded shortly after noon to the home on Sussex Lane, according to East Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1. A column of smoke was visible before emergency personnel arrived, but firefighters knocked out most of the blaze in a matter of minutes, the fire company said in a Facebook post.

Images of the home posted on Facebook by the fire company show the front door, entryway and area above the entrance to the house engulfed in flames and completely blackened.

The residents were safely evacuated and the incident was under investigation.
