East Windsor Blotter: Cocaine Possession, DWI Charges and Theft

Dumpster Theft

Sometime between 1 p.m. on Oct. 12 and 9 a.m. on Oct. 15, a 30-yard dumpster worth approximately $5,000 was stolen from the property of the Kids Preferred Warehouse on Twin Rivers Drive.  The incident is under investigation by authorities. 

Drunken Driving Charges for Hamilton Man  

Thomas Kelly, 31, of Hamilton, was charged with DWI after a traffic stop on Nov. 22. At 1:30 a.m., police observed Kelly allegedly traveling in an erratic manner while driving a blue Volkswagen on Route 130 at the intersection of Route 571.  The vehicle was stopped on Route 571 and the officer allegedly detected the odor of alcohol.  Kelly was given field sobriety tests and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.  He was also charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Careless Driving and Reckless Driving. Kelly was released pending court action.  

Cars Vandalized at City Streets

Between 7 p.m. on Nov. 21 and 12:38 a.m. on Nov. 22, four vehicles parked in the rear parking lot of City Streets were scratched with a sharp object. The total damage was estimated at approximately $2,300.  The incident is under investigation.

Car Burglaries

Between Nov. 21 and Nov. 22, two unlocked vehicles parked in a lot on Evanston Drive were entered and two GPS systems were stolen. Police reported the value of the GPS devices at $100 each.

Burglary at Princeton Arms East

Between 2:45 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on Nov. 22, a resident of Princeton Arms East reported that her apartment was entered through an unlocked window and a 55-inch flat screen television worth approximately $500, a Playstation 3 system worth approximately $250, and 10 DVD movies worth approximately $150 were stolen.  The incident is under investigation.

DWI Charges for Twin Rivers Man

Jorge Mocha-Paltin, 38, of Jamestown Road in Twin Rivers was charged with Driving While Intoxicated at 1:58 a.m. on Route 133 East. Police responded to a report of a one car motor vehicle accident on Route 133 near Route 130. Officers arrived to find the defendant with his vehicle disabled after sideswiping a guardrail, according to police. Mocha-Paltin was allegedly too intoxicated to perform field sobriety tests and was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving and operating an Uninsured Vehicle. He was later released pending court action.

Theft at Princeton Arms South

Between 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 11 a.m. on Nov. 23, the complainant reported that her Mongoose bicycle worth approximately $400 was left unsecured on the front porch of a Princeton Arms apartment when it was stolen.

Theft at Walmart

Ronald Henderson, 53, of Willingboro, was Shoplifting at Walmart on Nov. 25 at 6:19 p.m. Officers responded to the Walmart for a report of a shoplifter who was seen taking items and preparing to leave the store.  As officers arrived, they observed Henderson allegedly leaving the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise that store personnel confirmed he had not paid for, according to police. The items recovered were an LCD television worth $298, an Xbox console worth $149 and two 10-pound dumbbells worth $9.47 each. Henderson was arrested and released pending court action. 

Drug Charges for Trenton Man

Trevor Furrer, 23, of Trenton, was charged with possession of cocaine after a traffic stop on Nov. 26. At 11:09 a.m., officers observed a black Honda traveling northbound on Route 130 with the passenger not wearing his seatbelt. The vehicle was stopped as it turned onto Stockton Street and the officer smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to police. Further investigation revealed that Furrer, the passenger in the vehicle, was allegedly in possession of a bag of cocaine, however no marijuana was located. Furrer was arrested and released pending court action.
