East Windsor Mourns Loss Of Volunteer Firefighter John Brooks

Brooks was a lifelong resident of East Windsor and served with Fire Company 1 for 42 years.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — The East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company 1 is mourning the loss of member John Brooks, who died recently.

Brooks was a lifelong resident of East Windsor Township and served with Fire Company 1 for 42 years. He was a former Chief, President, and life member of the fire company. Brooks was Firefighter of the Year in 1985 and in 2002.

In 2020, he was recognized nationally by the National Volunteer Fire Council with their Lifetime Achievement Award. Brooks also served Rescue Squad Dist. 2 as the current Assistant Chief.

"John will be fondly remembered by both organizations for his dedication and mentorship. He gave selflessly for the good of the organizations, their members, and the community," the East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company 1 said in a Facebook post.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced soon, officials said.
