Former Employee of NL Chemicals in Hightstown Dies

Florence Grynkiewicz worked at NL Chemicals in Hightstown for 34 years.

Florence T. Grynkiewicz, of Jamesburg, died on Nov. 21 at The Gardens at Monroe. Florence was born and raised in South Amboy. She graduated from Saint Mary's High School and eventually relocated to Jamesburg. Prior to retirement in 1987, she was a secretary for Welin, Davit and Boat, having been employed there during WWII years. She later was employed in the same capacity for Dutch Boy Paints and parent company, NL Chemicals in Hightstown, working there for 34 years. 

She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, and solving crossword puzzles. Florence enjoyed visits to Cape Cod and never forgot her trip to Hawaii where she discovered the beauty of Hawaiian flowers. She cherished her home and loved working outside, finding outdoor projects and maintenance enjoyable. In her later years she became an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Florence was a communicant of Saint James the Less R.C. Church, Jamesburg. She also served as a member of The Sacred Heart R.C. Church prayer call chain and as a member of the Divine Mercy.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Grynkiewicz and her sister, Eleanor Boland. Surviving is her brother-in-law, Joel Boland of South Amboy, nieces, Cynthia Vaughn and her husband, Lonnie of Chino Valley, AZ, Sheila Boland of South Amboy, nephews, Kevin Boland and his wife, Andrea of Spotswood and Joe Boland of Hillsborough. Also surviving is a grandnephew, Lonnie Joseph Vaughn of California.

Visitation was on Sunday, Nov. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Mon. Nov. 25 from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at Whiteley Funeral Home, 241 Bordentown Ave., South Amboy. A mass of Christian Burial will be said at 9:30 AM on Mon., Nov. 25th. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, South Amboy. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Johnson Lane, Sayreville. The family requests flowers be omitted and contributions to Saint James the Less R. C. Church, Lincoln Ave., Jamesburg, NJ 08831 or, for the purchase of a memorial candle to be placed at the new Pope John Paul II Alter at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 224 North Feltus Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
