Immediate Care Medical's Christine Ibrahim Combines Expertise with Understanding

Dr. Christine Ibrahim​​ of Immediate Care Medical Walk-In discusses her definition of success and why she became involved in health care.

Dr. Christine Ibrahim is a physician at one of Immediate Care Medical Walk-In's four locations throughout central New Jersey, where patient services range from ear infections to x-rays, sports injuries to back pain.

Patch: Immediate Care works to combine quality medical care with the convenience of a walk-in office. How do you balance those two objectives?

Ibrahim: My staff and I strive to offer compassionate and comprehensive care to each and every patient. We understand that ailments and health issues are not always convenient, so we offer our services seven days a week, being open 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. during the weekdays and 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. during the weekends.

Patch: What made you want to become involved in health care?

Ibrahim: I wanted to become involved in health care because of my innate desire to help people.

Patch: Immediate Care is an emergency room alternative for non-life threatening medical needs. What are some examples of conditions that Immediate Care address?

Ibrahim: Ear infections, cough/cold/respiratory illnesses, bladder infections, influenza, stomach virus, asthma, allergies, fever, minor burns, minor rashes and skin infections, sports injuries, cuts and minor lacerations, sprains, insect or animal bites, fractures, minor dislocations, back pain and wound care.

Patch: What is your definition of success?

Ibrahim: Success in the medical field is to treat patients as a whole; not only do you treat their ailments, but you have to provide counseling or reassurance so that when they leave your office, they feel comfortable and confident with their diagnosis and management and that there's a plan for if they don't see improvement or resolution to their health concern.

Patch: How are you involved in the East Windsor community?

Ibrahim: Most recently, I was involved in an Immediate Care-sponsored health screening at the East Windsor senior center. I will be visiting local schools to teach children the importance of hand-washing during the cold and flu season.

Patch: How does Immediate Care distinguish itself from the competition?

Ibrahim: There are no appointments necessary, and we are open seven days a week.

Patch: What does Immediate Care bring to the community?

Ibrahim: Immediate Care sponsors local patient education, most recently at the East Windsor Senior Center. It also offers cost-effective and convenient health services.

Patch: What are three tips you could give readers to help maintain their health?

Ibrahim: Make sure to see your physician once a year for routine visit; exercise and maintain a healthy diet; do not ignore what your body is telling you. If something does not feel right, go to your physician.
