Patch: How long has your organization been around in the community?
Agarwal: Primrose School of East Windsor started construction in early 2022 and we opened our doors to East Windsor and Hightstown area parents in May, 2023. We absolutely love being part of the community, we will create 25+ jobs once at full capacity. The school is actively hiring teachers and staff positions. Additionally, we plan to be an active member of the community and give back through annual events that provide students the opportunity to practice generosity firsthand.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?
Agarwal: I have had a successful corporate career in accounting and finance, but I always wanted to start my own business in an area where I could make an impact in people's lives. What better way to do it than start a daycare/preschool and help shape our next generation. Once we decided on opening a Primrose, I quit my corporate job and have since focused on building and running the school along with my Director and Leadership team.

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Agarwal: Brighter future for all children.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Agarwal: It's actually two things: First, seeing parents drop off their kids happily knowing that their kids will be safe and well taken care of, and secondly, it's knowing that we are making a positive influence on the next generation by focusing on character development along with education.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Agarwal: At Primrose Schools, we believe that who children become is as important as what they know. Our schools and programs are designed to forge a path that leads to a brighter future for all children and help lift some of the pressure from busy parents’ shoulders.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Agarwal: Helping other people will not only improve you as a person but will also help achieve success. If nothing else, it will help you find the true meaning of success. Hence, the path to success is only through helping other people achieve their own success.

Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community? If so, tell us about them.
Agarwal: We are hosting regular open houses every Wednesday from 4 -6 pm to provide parents an opportunity to tour the school. For parents looking to try the school before enrolling we also offer Discovery days. We are also hosting a curriculum night and back to school night towards the end of August. More information available at www.primroseeastwindsor.com. We are currently offering special pricing as part of our grand opening. To avail the special pricing please schedule a tour and ask for grand opening pricing. Space is limited.

More about Primrose Schools: “Children thrive when they are in a predictable environment. And the environment in a Primrose school is consistent,” says Dr. Maria Shaheen, senior director of early childhood education for Primrose Schools.

“Everything in the classroom is built to foster the child’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language development,” Shaheen says. “It’s purposeful, interactive and safe. It is designed to fully engage a child’s sense of wonder.”

At Primrose, the Balanced Learning® curriculum lays the foundation for math, literacy and scientific thinking skills. Children learn through curiosity and asking questions; teachers don’t always give an immediate answer, in order to inspire problem solving and critical thinking.

“Children are encouraged to make their own discoveries,” Shaheen says.

“The child’s play leads the learning,” she says. “When a teacher allows for curiosity to drive learning, it leads to more complex play and deeper questions.”

At Primrose schools, even very young children are given the opportunity to have a positive impact on the world around them. Teachers use the Primrose Friends puppets to help teach character traits such as honesty, cooperation and respect for others.

Teachers introduce the concepts of service learning and giving without expectation, Shaheen says. For a toddler, that might mean giving a classmate a teddy bear to cuddle because she is sad. Preschoolers might write letters or draw pictures for residents of a senior center. Children help collect nonperishables for an annual Caring and Giving Food Drive and help to tend school gardens that grow flowers and vegetables.
